When Apple introduced the 9600 series it was a full six slot machine. Please post back to this thread if you try the newest version and have problems. This could mean that the changes are small things like security fixes that may have no effect on Avid, which could mean that the newer version might actually be a better version to run even if it isn't "officially" qualified by Avid. Note that the newer version is only 7.6.4, which is a small version increase. My guess is that the "7.6" link would be 7.6.2. Please note that I have not searched the forums on this subject, so I apologize if there are already known issues with this particular combination.Īs to where to get the older versions, the official apple link to older versions is.

If it doesn't, it would be pretty easy to uninstall the newer QT version and install 7.6.2. It might be worth a try to use the newer QT first just to see if it works.

I recently upgraded to MC 4 and it's compatible with 7.6.2, but of course I cannot find it on nor on .ĭid you already try to use the newer QT and run into problems? I'm not sure about the most recent releases of Avid and QT working together, but I can say that in the past, I've quite often been able to run newer versions of QT than Avid was "officially" compatible with. I hate to be this guy, cuzz I know this happens ALL THE TIME, but can someone point me towards a download for 7.6.2.

I have been introduced to the manager of a company in the music business a while ago, the company dealing with both sales and training the guy told me that according to a research conducted by their marketing department, musicians are loyal Mac customers, and they would have changed software rather than platform, if forced this is maybe what happened with Avid, that in fact lost customers when they tried to run away from Apple just to please Bill Gates (and his company's well known kind of rough marketing strategies, so to speak). Wether this is good or bad only time will tell, but MicroSoft trying to avoid having a killer app on the Mac is a fact that all of us who had to deal with Avid sales in the 90's have clearly seen. Maybe Avid didn't want to drop the Mac, but MicroSoft did! When plenty of Avid editors who switched from analog/moviola and learned the computer on Avid-Mac complained loud about the dropping of the Mac, the platform they had grown with, Avid eventually stepped back, but it was too late: Apple didn't cooperate as it used to and came out with its own editor, in the meanwhile educational institutions remained with the Mac and no new Avid editors were trained at a school level moreover, the availability of an affordable NLE (or even worst: free on the mule, and it wasn't free by mistake AFAIB) made it possible for plenty of new would be editors to step into the market, eventually causing a huge drop in the wages of us all. Avid never intended to "drop" Mac from its operational lineupI disagree with that, when MicroSoft bought enough Avid's stocks to influence the Company's policy they did indeed try to pull this killer application off the Mac platform I was there and have seen it all: Avid's salespeople trying to push customers to buy PC based Avids because "the application is written for the PC and runs better on it", or "yes You can have it on a Mac but You'll have to wait for delivery longer than a PC" and such.
